So welcome to Gabe's Pier! I planned to have a little "boardwalk" outside in our driveway under a tent so that I could hang cute garlands and lights. Mother nature must have knew I was prepared because she decided to let it rain right up until 2 hours before the party. Love her. But I'm a profesh. I've got this handled.
Every party planner has their style and I like to think of mine as homemade meets professional. I like piecing things together for an organic sort of thing. And dude, I'm on a budget just like everyone else. So this meant that I used every little table I had for the boardwalk games: Duck Pond, Ring Toss, Balloon Darts, Milk Can Softball plus a Tattoo parlor and Souvenir shop.
John's vintage Schwinn welcomed everybody with it's vintage adorableness.
So after you walked through the boardwalk, you came inside, which was my "beach". John and I built a life size Snack Shack and it was everything I dreamt it would be. I wanted you to feel like you were actually at the counter.
You bet your bippy we drug our chest freezer upstairs. Coincidentally, a month later, it's still there.
My friend Kimberley of Kimberley's Kitchen sent me some delish s'mores!
Then my friend Mary went and made orange creamsicle marshmallows, which I popped some mini popsicle sticks in and pretended they were creamsicles.
I found these years ago, probably on my first week of Pinterest, from Bakerella. They were surprisingly easy to replicate. Especially when you buy your cupcakes from the grocery store.
Annnnd my little birthday boy, who ran around like a crazy person and loved the duck pond the best. He's my fave.
