The C Word

It's not my fault, guys. Target did it first. They showed a commercial for it the other day. I'm talking Christmas. And being the slightly insane planner that I am, I was secretly thrilled when I heard from Shutterfly the other day and they wanted to talk Christmas. I've been getting my Christmas Cards from them for the past two years and I was more than a little excited to go check out what new designs they had for 2012. I am drawn straight to the bright, fun graphic cards like so...

Cute, right? I feel like they're very me.

Should I remind you of years past? I mean, everyone wants to see baby Gabes, right?
Man, I'm gonna go cry now over the fact that my child isn't that tiny anymore. Wah.

In the meantime, do you want in on some of the Shutterfly freebies??

Well first I direct you to their special offers where you can find out all of the deals they have going on for cards, photos, photo books, photo gifts, the whole shebang. Not necessary but you'll want to check the goods anyway, right?

Ok, to win $50 off your total order (which does not include shipping & cannot be combined with any other promos), just leave a comment with your email address and give me suggestions on how to keep my baby from growing any more. At least make it entertaining. I'll pick a winner using random.org in one week on October 19. Winner will hear directly from Shutterfly with their promo code.

I was given a pretty darn generous promo code by Shutterfly in exchange for writing this post. But I would do it anyway since I love their products that much. These are my own thoughts and they didn't tell me what to write. They are big believers in the power of blogs and I love that.

The winner is...

Expect an email Ana! Thanks for entering guys :)

Hi Shannon! My suggestion is to hug him and kiss him and hold him and baby him as much as possible so that when he starts preschool the teacher tells you that he's a little immature. Oh, and he might even poop in his pants at preschool (more than once) and totally humiliate you. It will be at this point that you may realize that your quest to hold on to that delicious and squishy babyness may have backfired. I may or may not be speaking from experience : )

Ritalin slows the growth of kids. Man, I knew that 8 years of schooling would come in handy for something. ;)

If I get picked for the prize, generate again, but I had to comment...I've had my Christmas cards since July....

I'm a total geek

I could so use these cards this year! I just found out that my Christmas will likely be spent in the hospital on bedrest to keep baby #2 from being a micro preemie :(

My best advice on how to keep your baby a baby...well, my girl is the same age as Gabe and I just make sure to snuggle her lots and keep insisting she's a baby. I figure if I am completely delusional, then I won't realize if she's growing up. Perma baby!

This would be a great prize to win!

Keep referring to Gabe as "the Baby." My youngest is 2.5 and that's how she is known. :)

Obviously the only good answer is to have another baby. And then keep popping them out as soon as the new baby gets less babylike.

You figure out how to keep them from growing and I'll give you a discount. I don't know what for but that's neither here nor there. Gimme prizes.

Put him under glass? Keep him in the fridge? Things age more slowly that way! LOL! My oldest just turned 5... WAH!!... so let me know what you discover!!!

Pick me! Pick me! Christmas card time! :)

Start binding him? Like um, they used to do with feet? Or something?
Look, I'm already on my second kid growing up way too fast. I have no idea how to stop it.

Hmmm Must be my google account or something. Anyways I had this nice post about how we should swaddle our babies more to restrain even the THOUGHT of growth to keep them babies FOREVER (insert evil laugh).

I also wanted to tell you that I have a 2 year old son too and used to be really scared of him growing up but actually find him really funny and amusing as he grows, figures out different concepts and blows my mind with his wit.
Thanks for keeping me entertained!!!
p.s. LOOOOOVVVVE Shutterfly!!!

I actually used Shutterfly for Christmas cards for first time two years ago because of your post back then and have continued to ever since, so tell those people over there to keep hooking you up, because you're doing good things for them! :)

RE: Keeping them young? I have no idea, because they seem to get bigger and bigger at a relentless pace. I will say that I've given a lot of thought to keeping my 3-yr-old boy at home with us forever and ever and I've come up with a plan called Operation Sweat Pants, Math Club, White Socks, and Birth Control Glasses. Sometimes love makes us to mean things, but desperate times call for desperate (Dungeons and Dragons) measures. With this plan, I'm almost certain that we can avoid the perils of high school parties, driving too fast in cars, surprise bebes, getting invited to questionable concerts and any number of other growing up evils. Muwahahahahaha.

I kid, I kid...kind of.

Ah, it's just not possible to keep them from growing up. But, I still get my hugs and snuggles in every day with my 6, going on 12, year old.
