Because I can't go a day without making more work for myself, and also because I'm a tablescape freak, and mostly because I know she appreciates this sort of thing, I set a cute table for lunch for my mom's birthday. Everytime I do one of these, people inevitably ask if I just have things sitting around my house to pull together. And the answer is yes. I tend to stick with plain white and glass serving pieces so that I can change them up with cheapy colored extras.
Like mini red colanders.
Lately we've been obsessed with caprese sandwiches and since our basil plant is monstrous, it's easy to justify buying expensive pre-sliced mozzarella.
Salad in a pie plate? Why not, that shizz matches!
I broke out my DIY pom pom napkin rings from my Minty Fresh wintertime dinner party..
Since I successfully changed some pink hydrangeas to blue ones, they worked perfectly.
I had cleaned up my chalkboard but didn't have time to draw something awesome, so I hung a chicken wire frame up and clipped a postcard on it...called it a day.
Also, the table runner doesn't go the length of the table because I just bought a little to make a pillow. So it worked for lunch for 2.5 of us, but would look silly otherwise. And just so things are completely transparent around here, it didn't stay looking like this for long. This is reality.

Freaking adorable, not that I'd expect anything else out of you. I need to know how you changed pink hydrangeas blue, too.
I'm pretty sure Gabe could've eaten that mac n cheese from a pie plate. BE A TEAM PLAYER GABE! ;)

and yes, i'm one of those people too who always wonders where you get all this stuff? now I know! :)
Adorable! You are the tablescape master. Love the colander and the pie plate. And I, too, am wondering how you changed the colors of the hydrangea.
The food looks delicious!
What a cute table! Besides the yummy looking food, I have to say that my favorite part is the "after" photo! Thanks for keeping it real! :)
I want to eat a meal at your house - how much more fun it must be to eat on a setting like this.
