So here's the story behind this faux shindig... Very early this year, I decided I wanted to do a photoshoot, mostly for publicity purposes and a little bit for fun purposes. I thought that a Roaring Twenties party for someone turning 30 would be just so fun to do. Unfortch, like I mentioned, my friends and I are all onwards to 32, so my chances for throwing this party are gone.
So I started collecting ideas and glassware and figured this would be a good project during a time where I didn't have a ton of actual booked clients. Then I stumbled upon designer Jesyka D'Atri Mares' blog, Visual Vocabulary and fell in love with her style. I went out on a limb and asked her if she would design an invitation for this faux party. She graciously hooked me up and then, all of a sudden, my business sort of took off. This photoshoot got put on the backburner until recently when I decided it just needed to be done. I then called on my hot to trot pal Katie and begged her to flap it up for me. These are the results...
And just so you're in my head, I envisioned this as an intimate dinner party among friends with plenty of booze and general flappiness.

damn.. if I had only gotten my act together last year... we could have bid farewell to my roaring 20s while I was in a pregnancy-induced prohibition ;)

LB
Love it all! So fun!
I am absolutely loving this idea. All of the little details are fantastic! And my 30th birthday is just 8 months away.
Oh. my. gosh! how adorable!!! love that quote, "the problem with the world is everyone is a few drinks behind!" hehehe!
How flipping cute, I'll be 33 on Sunday. My bday is going to consist of sleeping past 8am and yard work, I would kill for this party! General flappiness is always good
I would feel so damn classy to attend a party like this. Why aren't we the Real Housewives?
I think it could work for a 21st too.
Awesome! What a great idea!
I. Freakin. Love. This. I want to go to there, right now. My aunt was on a show called the Roaring 20s years and years ago, and I've always just loved that style, and music and everything. Love it!
This is so chic! Love it!!!
I am loving the touches of gold, and I'm dying to know more about the cake! Gorgeous!
Who's that gal and where can I find her to buy her an illegal drink?
I love every. single. bit of this! So amazing. All of your work and planning is top shelf girl. And the invitation is brilliant. Here's to hoping SOMEONE hires you for a roaring 20's party. I know they will hire you for every other part in the book if I was in PA you'd already be called! oxox :)
You are so creative!! I think my favorite part is tied between the glam cake and the poster of the 1920's quote!
Just discovered your blog via Creative Blog. Love this idea for a party and the fact that you went all out dressing in costume!
THIS LOOKS AMAZING.
And it makes me miss booze.
You done good, girl. You done good.
But then I knew this would come out awesome when I saw it in March. Way to flap it up, B! l)
This is SO. GOOD. Shannon. Man, I just missed the boat on this theme...I would totes do this. Maybe I should just have a re-do this year. You know, be perpetually 29 turning 30. I'd be okay with that. And I love that quote "The problem with the world is..." that is going to be my new motto.
This shoul be on HWTM, seriously. Amazing. I love the lettering onthe bottles and the plates are too awesome. Also, your friend? She's gorgeous!
