What the what? How have I never had these before now? Guys, I'm 31. How, in 31 years, has no one ever made these in my vicinity? Well that changed a few weeks ago (thank God) during one of my get-togethers with my friends. My friend Adrienne brought these Oreo Truffles and seriously, I couldn't stop popping them in my mouth. I know, I know, combine oreos and cream cheese and how could they be anything but ridic, right? Well add some cookie crumbs to the outside and that made em even better. Also? I normally don't even care for Oreos. Mind blooown.
I ran into Katie's kitchen, grabbed a white plate and immediately started setting them up in front of the window. Luckily my friends know what I'm doing because if it were anyone else, I'd have looked kinda weird, bent down over a plate of truffles, zooming in and out, trying to find the perfect angle. We've all been there, right? Such is the life of a blogger.
Ingredients
1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, softened
1 pkg. (15.5 oz.) Oreos, finely crushed, divided
2 pkgs Semi-sweet chocolate, melted
Directions
Mix cream cheese and 3 cups cookie crumbs until well blended.
I also got to hang out with my pint-size friend, Nora. Remember her?
Shape into 48 (1-inch) balls. Dip in melted chocolate; place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet. Sprinkle with remaining cookie crumbs.
Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator.

Just look at her now. She's like, the prettiest baby I know.
I had my matching pink shoe-tights on under my jeans. Awkwarrrrd.
Seriously though, you should probably think about making these if you haven't already. You will be the hit of the party. Or the couch. Wherever you are, you'll be a hit. And if you have made them before, why haven't you shared with me? I thought we were friends!

Ahh I love that outfit. I will probably have to put it away soon because of the weather warming up. Wah. Who knew that my plate and dishtowel could look so swank?
I had never had these until recently either! Apparently, they're not a new recipe but I think Oreo's 100th Birthday this month and made them extra popular again. Plus, they're basically cake balls...but easier!
After seeing these so many places, I was psyched to make them myself but didn't actually have Oreos. I did, however, have half a box of Thin Mints in my freezer. So these bad boys were made:

Proving that, yes, most cookies can be made even better by adding cream cheese and chocolate coating!
Yum! Thanks for reminding me about these! A friend made them for a party once and my husband and kids scarfed them up. Michelle, the thin mint version sounds so good...
I need to know your secret...because I've made the chocolate chip cookie version of these and they were super uggo....My husband actually laughed when I showed him what they were supposed to look like. How do you get a perfectly round and smooth chocolate coating?? I see there are holes in yours so are toothpicks part of the solution?
Thank you bunches for this awesome recipe! They look and sound delish =) looking forward to replicating this recipe in the near future!
This is one of my go-to recipes for pot luck gatherings. It's so simple to make! But I don't dip them in chocolate. I roll the cream cheese and cookie mixture in the remaining crumbs and pop them in the fridge. They are always so popular with the guests. And you can't beat a 2-ingredient recipe!
I think my blood sugar levels shot up just reading the ingredients. And now I have to have these...now.
I make these and freeze dough after mixing and again after rolling. When I dip them in the chocolate coating I use two forks to roll the balls between. Chocolate coats evenly. Sometimes I use a little mint extract for a different taste.
do you use chocolate chips or baker's chocolate to coat? Do you put anything in it to thin?
Gosh! Sounds so uniquely delicious! I WILL do this, but may I make one small change? (mostly because I'm too impatient to melt chocolate).
I would like to grind up the chocolate in the food processor to powder (quickly, small amounts per batch making sure it doesn't melt) and roll the balls in that.
These dolls should be rolled in ANY kind of chocolate!!!
Can't wait to make them. YUM YUM
We love Oreo truffles, or Oreo balls as my husband calls them. And that little cutie making my heart ache. Oh, so cute.
I am not sure if I am cursing you or loving you for sharing this recipe! Hope you guys are all doing great!
WHITE CHOCOLATE ones are my all time fave! Been making these at least 3-4 times a month since finding it on pinterest a while back. You can use Baker's chocolate or chips, ive used both and both work! I would suggest popping them in the freezer for abt 15 mins before the melted chocolate step, it helps them stay together. So yummy.
I've never been a big oreo fan but I have made these with the golden oreo's. Um yeah. I'm a little ashamed to even remember how many of those I ate in one sitting. Not sure what the difference was but it worked for me! ;)
These are AMAZING with the berry Oreos. Seriously. Orgazm-in-your-mouth good. :)
Any chocolate will work just fine. I used the light cocoa meltable chips from Michael's. Refrigeration is the key to make them round. It's really hard when the consistency is soft to make it form a ball. I ran into this problem at first too. Once the dough gets soft put it in the fridge. When you're done making the balls, put them back in the fridge to harden before dipping them in chocolate. I used a toothpick to dip them. They get soft fast, so only dip a small amount and keep the rest in fridge till you're ready. Hope this helps.
I dip in white chocolate. The trick to perfect round ball, let mixture sit in freezer for 3 hours. If it starts getting sticky during the prep, back in the freezer they go!
