Dare to DIY: Be Thankful

So today starts Week 1 of Kim's Dare to DIY Challenge and this week's challenge was to Be Thankful aka make some Thanksgiving crafties. Well if you saw me in action last year, you'd think I ruled at this type of thing. See, last year I made DIY No-Sew Crushed Velvet Pumpkins. And ya know what? That tutorial is freakin popular. It brings a ton of traffic to my little blog here. So obvs. I felt a ton of (self-induced) pressure to make something kick-ass. And um, I buckled under that pressure. So instead, I made a Book Page Wreath.
It was super easy and I was able to use all sorts of supplies I had on hand in my stash. There are a billion great tutorials out there. I just used the first one that popped up on google. And let's just put it out there that I made this Saturday night at like 9 alongside a glass of mediocre Malbec. I can't vouch for the uniformity of my paper cones. And I will now stop apologizing for my wreath and get on with it...

Crap cell phone pics add to the charm

I figure the sentiment is a sublte nod to the meaning of Thanksgiving and sums up how I feel bout those dudes I live with. I like em a lot and they make life pretty darn awesome. So I'm thankful for them. And you guys too.

I stumbled across a huge pile of old music sheets at my thrift store last week and picked them up. Maybe I'll find myself making a wreath as well :o).

I really like it, Shannon! I don't think you buckled under the pressure at all. And I think that this is a very versatile project, which I love.

How did you create the middle piece? It looks like it has texture?

Thanks so much for linking up to Dare to DIY! I so appreciate it!

Buckled under pressure? Please, this is perfect! And I love the colors. My thanksgiving table is actually going to be blue and orange this year, so I would like this little wreath to move over to my house, please!

So I am curious, what book did you use to make this?

I started making a wreath of paper roses from a book called Middlesex. I got two chapters in and finally called it quits. Ironically, I got about two flowers in and called it quits on the wreath.

Anyway, I think it looks great. Much better then what I did-- which is nada.

Great! Love the sticker/stamp. Although I had to look at it three times to get it...at frist I thought it was "thisisthe". Haha wish that was due to wine...just tired.
