Last week, an event occured that might have been the highlight of Gabe's life. Sure, that life has only been around for 11 months but this incredible happening was that good. I might have mentioned at some point that we watch the PBS Sprout channel almost exclusively during Gabe's waking hours (and ssshhh sometimes after he goes to bed). One of his faves is the Sunny Side Up Show which features Chica the chicken puppet and one of four likeable hosts. Gabe literally stops what he's doing and hauls ass to the tv when he hears Chica's "voice". So when I saw the news that Chica and our favorite host, Kelly, would be at the Please Touch Museum (a kiddo museum) in Philly, I might have squealed. So I found a willing buddy to go with me, my cousin Francesca, and we headed down.
And we waited.
Gabe entertained the adults with his booty-dancing.
and soon enough, out came Kelly and Chica in the Sunshine Barn. Gabe flipped his shit.
He was so so happy. The kind of happy only the discovery of a floor-Cheerio can usually bring him.
After the storytelling and whatnot, we were able to get in line to meet the stars themselves.
Standing in line, we couldn't see Kelly & Chica but we could certainly hear that adorable chicken squawking a mile away. Gabe kept craning his neck, trying to see her.
And then it was our turn.
You can't help but love this chick. She's funny and cute and you woud have thought they were there to see him. So we told her she was our fave. But Gabe had no interest in her...he only had eyes for Chica.
hi Chica!
And then it was over. We left the Sunshine Barn. But not before Kelly called Gabe cuddley. See? Highlight of his life.
And since I hadn't been to the museum since they moved and I was in 2nd grade, we walked around to check it out. They had certain areas designated for little little kids but honestly, they were kinda boring. So we did up the big kid stuff. Like the giant piano from the (awesome) movie Big.
and then a mini baby grand! Gabe loved it! I kinda wanna find one and buy it for him.
then we headed downstairs to the Alice in Wonderland section, which is seriously impressive. Best part? They had costumes for the kids to dress up in. And even though they were about 6 sizes too big, you know I wrangled Gabe into one.
He had a tea party with a creepy rabbit. But then again, pretty much everything in that story is creepy, ya know?
The museum also has a mini town with a supermarket, a McDonalds, a hospital, etc. Most had costumes. I know, this is like my kiddie heaven. So Gabe scrubbed in to give some shots.
Just too much cuteness for one day, ya know?
I think he had a good time.
And while I know my cousin doesn't read my blog because she's in college and has better things to do, I have to thank her a million times for going with me. I very hesitantly handed over my camera and tried to explain that she had to use it like an old-fashioned camera, not one you hold out in front of you and look at the screen to get your shot. She took about 400 pictures. Most were blurry. Some were good. But I don't even care, she captured every bit of excitement and I got to have my own personal photog. And shit, I'm actually in a few pics without having to beg my husband. So all in all? Good day. Very good day.

I sometimes wish I could get as excited at things as babies and little children do. Your boy looks positively gleeful!!
Oh my gosh. His face! His face! And she looks like a total sweetheart, but poor girl couldn't compete. I love that he only had eyes for the chicken. ;)
Do you think Gabe will be as excited to see me? I'll send a photo and recordings of me singing so that he knows how awesome I am.
Wait. That probably will not help.
Those pictures are amazing!! You caught so much excitement on his cute little face!! I bet he had the best time :)
Oh my gosh, he looks SO happy! And that Kelly person is adorbable. I have no idea who Kelly and Chica are, but this makes me want to find out.
Also? You're mom of the year for taking your under one year old to the museum. Never would have crossed my mind that they could enjoy it at this age. Lol. We'll put it on our summer agenda!
That is adorable! Man- he really loves that chicken!
P.S. my coffee table looks like an enchanted gnome forrest
OHMYGOODNESS! First of all, I am so happy to hear that I am not the only mom that has a child obsessed with the kazoo sounding bird! Lilly lost her shit when she saw the pictures of Gabe with Chica (maybe wasnt a good idea b/c she is throwing a fit, running around the house yelling for CHICA! Looks like I am changing the channel from PBS to Sprout. Frig!) Anyways that looked like an awesome time! I love the pictures, what an adorable little man!
this is adorable.

it makes me want my baberz here RIGHT NOW!!!
Soooo cute!!! My daughter would also lose her mind if she met Chica!
We've been on the hunt for a stuffed Chica doll for her first birthday!

1. Chica is the shit.
2. Kelly IS the best one.
3. Your boy is awesome and cute and so stinking happy he made me grin from ear to ear.
Ok, so clearly I need to figure out who this Chica dude is because he will be the key to keeping the little monster occupied. Check.
