Working It...or Not

If you've been following my little working girl to stay-at-home mom journey for the past few months, you'd know that by now, if I were going to, I'd be back to work. My little buddy would be heading to daycare everyday while mama worked hard for her money. But he's not. He's at home with me. I wake up every morning to Gabe cooing  and John getting ready for work. We say bye to Daddy and head downstairs for breakfast.  What we do the rest of the day varies from day to day and is always dictated by Gabe and what kind of mood he's in and what he feels like doing.  For the past 12 weeks, I've been adapting to this lifestyle. Mostly in my pajamas. As a nursing mom, there's a good portion of the day spent without a shirt on (your welcome for that image, husband and any other creepy male readers)(to my brother...sorry for that visual). However, when 6:30 pm rolls around and John walks through the door, I feel a little slackerish with gym shorts on and sleep crusties still in my eyes.

The past 3 monthshave basically felt like an extended vacation (and I say vacation in very loose terms because this adventure has been like no vacation I've ever been on). But I'm starting to feel like I need to get my act together a little more. Set more of a schedule. Both for me and for little buddy. So I'm starting small...here's what I'm doing. I'm going to get a shower and dress in an actual outfit before noon. Said outfit will have to be condusive to nursing but will be more than a nursing tank and maternity yoga pants. And if I get a free freaking second, I'll try to take some pics. And I'll post em. And they'll be creepy headless shots because I can't bring myself to pose for you. That's be awkward.

Oh and these are actually from the week before Thanksgiving. I'm just a slacker in the posting department.
jeans & tank from Old Navy, sweater from Gap, shoes from Payless

comfy pants,  cardi & sequin flats from Target, polka dot tank from Old Navy

jeans from Loft, t-shirt from Old Navy, scarf from JC Penney, shoes from Payless

jeans & shoes from Target, blue tank & bracelet from JC Penney, cardi from Marshalls

jeans & cardi from Target, Tank from Marshalls, shoes from DSW, bracelet from Kohls

And just so you know I'm not weird (yes, I am) or obnoxiously narcisistic, there's scores of ladies doing the same thing every week over at The Pleated Poppy. It's called What I Wore Wednesday.

I love you, internet.

Dude, I'm a deer in headlights when the doorbell rings. And there's a surprising amount of ringers during the day. I need one of those No Solicitors sign in my window.

And I didn't say the shoes stay on all day...but those sequins are my go-to comfy shoe.

haha I love this post... as I am reading it I am still sitting here in my pjs :s. I haven't mastered the showering during the day and getting dressed thing... actually I just can't be bothered lol. I haven't had a shower before like 6pm since my husband went back to work after Holden was born! I am actually starting to panic as I write this because I know my mom is coming in an hour to pick Holden up for a walk and I look like I just woke up 5 min ago (it's noon)!

That sounds like a good plan honey, but no stress if you don't manage it. Loving all those cute shoes, pretty feet are so easy to pull off even in your pj's! Have a good week. axx

Cool shoes! Sounds like you're a new mom so I think you should go easy on yourself. You're not slacking, you've just got a rooter hanging off the boob. But, at least you're feet look good!! lol.

You are looking so great - on the days that I'm home I usually run upstairs and change out of my PJs just in time for my husband to walk through the door. Then I try to pass it off as if I've been wearing jeans and cardigan all day instead of my fleece pants and sweatshirt :)

@Denise...most payless shoes usually hurt me for the first 2 or 3 wearings but i know if i push through, they'll get comfy.

@Ami...I know the feeling of not being bothered!

@Michael...absolutely not! They're adorable!

Payless has really stepped up their game. You look cuter than I do in an actual work setting some days. hahaha

LMAO - Totally siding with Isrut NO WAY IN HELL your prancing around the house in those shoes. Sure they might look pretty sitting on the floor and all but common Shannon :+)

You look pretty darn cute! I am in a similar boat...but have been off work for 2 years, did 6 months of bed rest and have been fighting the lazies for 10 months now with my little man James and my daughter Megan. You are doing good Momma!

This is fabulous! I was right there with you... I had no business being seen by anyone (how could I assault a postal worker's eyes like that?). And a few months ago, I vowed to shower and dress. It sounds so banal, but honestly, I feel like a prettier woman and more in control; hence, a better mama. Cheers to you!

I completely understand. E.J. turned 8 weeks old today - I try so hard to stay on a schedule - it is truly hard. I have a 3 1/2 year old too - so I have to work around both schedules...and sometimes it is 3-4 days before I get a 10 minute shower. *sigh* Praying for ya sweetie - love your outfits! ;)

I've been thinking about doing the What I Wore thing, but it's been 18 months and I've never posted a picture of myself, so I feel awkward doing it now. Maybe I should try your headless version!

Oh emm gee, hello cute shoes from payless!

For the record, if I hang out with you while you are wearing the shoes in the first outfit, I might knock you down and steal them.

I don't eff around when it comes to cute shoes.

Reason #452 why I heart you as a SAHM/ blogger: You are making an effort to wear clothes. I like that.
