Lots of high fives all around for your votes on what Blinky should wear home from the hospital should she turn out to be a girl. An outfit has been purchased and will be revealed in due time. But now I'm back with another trivial baby-related question and I need your ideas and opinions. And to make it fun, if I pick your awesomely clever idea, I'll send you a prize! (Obviously I don't know what said prize is yet since I just thought of this, but go with it. It won't suck.)
Anyway, like every other first-time mother out there with a decent camera, I'm planning on documenting the Blink's monthly growing milestones with pics. But I obviously can't just take a picture, put it in an album and write "3 months", can I? I have to make it hard on myself and get creative. Like these people...
Sherry and John from Young House Love use a different piece of awesome fabric in combination with a weekly/monthly (photoshopped) onesie to keep track of their daughter Clara's pics.
Nicole from Making it Lovely sits her daughter in her fancy chair every month with a pin telling us how old Eleanor is.
Give me something awesome. If you were about to birth a babe and wanted to do something like this, what would you do? I'll be home all day doing nothing but feeding and photographing my child so it can be as labor intensive as you want. Halp!

I really like the button idea, but I'm afraid if the baby moves at all you won't be able to read it. If you want it to be something the baby doesn't wear than I would say a little banner you can put above your own fancy chair. That way it's festive and fun, the baby can be in whatever position in the chair you want them to be, and you can make a whole new one each month or just swap out the numbers for the month.
I think you should take a photo every single week of the kids life, with the same background and same expression, so measure it's aging, then make a flip book when it's like 50.
i think you should do them sitting in the same chair but holding a number - similar to the recent fathers day trend - (http://gobblestime.blogspot.com/2010/06/powerless.html).
you could buy wooden ones somewhere or, knowing you, make adorable little fancy patterned ones with cardboard and fabric.
that way you can choose to make it very consistent with a similar outfit each month, or you can change it up with whatever is most adorable at the moment - change with seasons and as blink grows!
I love, love, love the chair. I'm sure you'll stage it perfectly and it'll look awesome.
I think you should put Blinky on Sebbi's back and take the pic. Put a button, card, or something on a ribbon designating how old Blinky is and have Sebbi hold it from his mouth.
Hubby
Young House is my favorite...I think it's just too cute for words. Easy enough to pull off on those days when you don't have time to worry about safely positioning a baby in a chair because you're covered in vomit and haven't showered in two days.
...I don't know from experience...but I hear there are those days...Hmm.
Dang. I wish I could bust out some kick-arse baby photo ideas. I'm blaming it on brain-dead Friday. :)
Ooo. And I'm totally "pro" making a creepy flip book when Blinky is 50. Hehe.
LMAO at hubby's comment...
I like the fancy chair idea. As for the age, I would say make a banner. And eventually she can hold it.
I prefer the photoshopping, but only because I'm practical. And, you have to make/buy (I know you would probably make because you are so crafty) each one, only to be used for a month. But, you get the same idea with the photoshopping, and you don't have a onesie to waste.
Just my two cents. And, I think you can still put the little one in the same place, a posh post in his/her nursery perhaps? (Which reminds me, when do we see the nursery?)
and LMAO at your husband. I second his idea.
Um, I just found this and had to come over to give you the suggstoin. Going to Office Max tomorrow to get a calendar - on his 1 month birthday, because I'm a procrastinator.

I like John's idea. Even when Sebbi has moved on to cat heaven, you should have him stuffed, just for the sake of taking these pictures. Fun & creepy!!! That's how we roll.
I think you should make the baby take a contortionist class and have Blinky physically maneuver itself into the appropriate numerical representation of its age
I was thinking of going the way of YHL. BONUS: in addition, you can make other fun photo-shop type improvements, like "i hate broccoli" and alter other pictures as such. And sometimes add devil horns. Or a moustache.
So far I like the chair one best. It's pretty nifty and if I actually have the energy/interest when I have a kid, I might have to remember that one. If I think of something completely unique, I will let you know pup.
I love the YHL idea but since I don't have PhotoShop and that software is expensive that actually wouldn't be a cost effective option for me (due in Nov). I think I might buy sticker paper and just design a sticker for each week and stick in on the onesie. You can buy the stickers already made but I think buying sticker paper is cheaper.
OR check out www.bbblocks.com for some awesome age photo blocks that you can purchase and take the baby's picture with. Good luck!
