The Baby Files - Week 24

How far along? 24 weeks - that's 6 months for you newbs

Total weight gain: down one so we're at 20 lbs

Maternity clothes? Yes, as modeled below.

The belly:

Sleep: Kill me. Please. My lack of sleep is sucking my will to live. First I cut out the liquids after 8pm to help stave off the middle of the night peeing. Then I made sure there was no caffeine after 5pm so I wouldn't wake up with my mind racing at 2am. Next, I tried the $50 Boppy body pillow (a gift from my lovely husband after whining incessantly about my lack of sleep). Nothing is helping! Meh!

Cravings: Cinnamon Life cereal this week.

Best moment this week: Getting the glider for the nursery at an unbeeeeelievable deal! And getting godparents too!

Movement: Like clockwork about 15 minutes after every meal, this baby is doing backflips. Guess he or she likes ham sandwiches.

Gender: Who knows? But seriously, no one I know (in-real-life) thinks its a boy. I hope they're wrong because I looooooove the name we picked for a boy and really wanna use it. I hope they're right purely for the shopping opportunities.

Labor Signs: No but my friend Sarah's got them. I felt her belly during a contraction. Weird.

Belly Button in or out? Still in but according to John, it's becoming "more cavernous". Dude, # 1 get your finger out of my button. And #2, you're becoming more cavernous. Meh on that.

What I miss: I'll go with last week's answer: Sleeping normally. Not huffing/puffing/grunting.

Weekly Wisdom: Kill me.

Milestones: Apparently after 24 weeks, the baby is much more viable if he or she were to born right now. That's always good news.

What does it mean if your bellybutton is cavernous and you're NOT pregnant?

Um, I totally think you're having a boy. The reason being that for some reason I refer to your baby as a "he" and Sarah's as a "she". If Sarah and Todd's baby comes out with a penis, I might fall over from shock. I don't know why I am so convinced of both your babies' sexes.

BABY!

I feel like it was just yesterday you were telling us about the babe- and now you're 24 weeks in!

The sleep part? Not fair. Just to make sure we're even sometimes I get out on Todd's side of the bed when I wake up to pee/shift/stare at the ceiling so he's up feeling my pain too...even though it's on the opposite side of the room as the bathroom. "Oh, excuse me, silly me, I didn't realize the bathroom was over the OTHER SIDE! Did we move it?!"

hehe.

Is it weird that I love your baby bump pictures?? Do you do that think that preggers chick do and rub it at random times?? Why do they do that?

Still going with a boy.. and a C name. Or a name that has a C in it somewhere. Anywhere. And if not, I will refer to your child as "Chip" just to prove I'm always right ;)

Looking good girl! The early 20 weeks are the best. I hate to say but the sleep problems are probably just going to get worse. Boo! But just think of it as good practice for when the baby arrives and is up all night. No? Doesn't help?

Youse are my favorite. Youse crack me up.

Lis - When John said it was becoming "more" cavernous, I assume he always thought it was cavern-like before. Perhaps we go spelunking.

Katie - Thank you. Thank you for thinking I'm having a boy. This girl needs some tiny Gap baseball hats.

Sarah - No shit. August is coming round the mountain fairly quickly. haha Maybe I should just poke John as I'm getting out of bed at 3am for a PB & Jelly, ya know, just to let him know.

LB - ha! I'm glad someone does. I just focus on the pasty white arms and get sad. And yes, I've become one of the belly rubbers. Apparently when there's a kid in there, all sorts of things are going on. Sometimes pain, sometimes movement, sometimes the taco bell you ate for lunch. And rubbing feeeeeels good. ha.
