How to Save $200 & Look Like a Flamingo

A few months ago, I mentioned that we were going to be buying a new mattress in the near future. Well the future is now kids. We went to Sleepy's, where I went all Goldilocks on them and tried every bed in the store until we found the one that was juuuuuust right. We'll take it.

Ok, so after tax, delivery charges, old mattress removal charges and promises of our first-born child, the total came to astronomical. That crap really adds up. Our cheap-o brains started thinking. And we came up with a way to get rid of all of those charges. First, we live a stone's throw away from The Small Wonder, the great tax-free state of Delaware, where we were currently shopping. However, if our mattress is delivered to our house in PA, we get charged 6% PA sales tax plus a delivery fee. Oh and they also want like $30 to take our old, mystery mattress with them. Helllllll no.

This is where a brother with a truck and a free Saturday comes in handy. We'll pick that shizz up ourselves, saving delivery and taxes. I'll call the trashmen to schedule a bulk pick-up for the old mattress and boxspring., saving us the removal fees. And well, unfortunately, we'll still owe Sleepy's our first born. Couldn't find a way outta that one. Sorry Blink.

Ohhhh, I'm pregnant. I am unable to do much more than hold this door open, take pictures and make fun of you guys. Soooooo sorry.

Look at her. She's a beaut. All stain-less and shiny and new. It's like I'm sleeping in a hotel every night. However, I did mention a leg cramp that this baby caused. I always assumed I was a restless sleeper and that I was just programmed to flip flop several times per night. At least, this what I did on our old mattress. However,I've realized that, after waking up at 6:15 this morning with a weird cramp in my knee, that I was in the same position I last remembered being in last night. On my side (because stomach sleeping has gone out the window. Thanks again Blink) with my right leg bent at the knee. I must have been in this position for a solid 8 hours. It's no wonder I can't unbend my leg now. I literally look like a flamingo. I'd share a pic but me...at 6:15am...not a pretty sight.

So a round of applause for my brother and his truck for helping us be cheap. And another round for our new mattress, thank you for being so squishy and comfy. Maybe we'll get you a new set of sheets to celebrate. Would you like that? Would ya??

You guys are thrifty! That's awesome. Does Delaware have an IKEA? I think I could justify the 4000 miles on the car and gas money for tax-free shopping. Maybe.

Yay for a new mattress! That's amazing that you ddin't toss and turn at all. I'm usually a Kim-burrito by the morning because of all my tossing.
