Bird Bird Bird, The Birds the Word

I love unexpectedly awesome weekends. I got to see a bff of mine every night. Friday night I tagged along with Sarah to a book club started by some gals we went to high school with. They were reading Sellevision by Augusten Burroughs and Sarah knew that he is my most favorite author of all time so she invited me along. As with most book clubs, it was really just an excuse to get together, eat some finger food, have some drinks and chit-chat. Plus, the host Michelle has a ridiculously cute new baby to coo at, so that's kind of a bonus. And I got to see Tursi! Also a bonus. Really, it was just sweet to get out of my house for a sober night out. So thanks guys!

Then I woke John up bright and early the next morning to head to Home Depot. You know what time it was. It was nursery-painting time. With two days of sun and 70 degree weather, it was prime time for opening windows and letting that shizz air out. We picked out our primer & paint and over the next two days, John transformed the bubble-gum factory pink guest room into a babylicious cream fit for a girl Blinky or a boy Blinky.

Saturday night, my pal Lisa ventured over from Jerz to have dinner with me. I hadn't seen her in a month of Sundays, or maybe more. We drank cokes (with caffiene!!) and ate crocks of french onion soup. We avoided awkward run-ins with people we know and discussed the skank-titude of the entire waitstaff. Just like old times. But substitute cokes with coors lights. Those were old times.

Then came Sunday and the arrival of Kelly. We had one goal and that was to paint. I wanted to make some nursery art for the Blink and she just wanted to get back into painting again. So she taught me how to mix colors and what brushes to use and whatnot. She painted happy little trees, while I concentrated on just painting aqua backgrounds. Then she drew me some birds and we mod podge'd em onto the canvas. I am in love with how they turned out. Aren't they cute? And look how good I am at painting a background. I'll now answer to Bob Ross.

I don't think I need to tell you that I LOVE those bird pictures. Soo cute. And you are kinda bass-ass at painting background.

Oh hey... could you please give me back that filet-o-fish? ;)
